Systems
Plant, and the duties we install it at.
We are not tied to a manufacturer. The list below is what suits the buildings we work in; the selection inside each one comes out of the survey.
Book a survey
| System | Duty range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Air-handling units | 0.5 – 12 m³/s | Double-skin plant with thermal-wheel or plate recovery, chilled-water or DX coils, EC plug fans. Specified around the coil condition, because that is what sets the drain, the duct size and half the running cost. |
| Chilled water | 20 – 600 kW | Air-cooled chillers, buffer volume, pressurisation and low-loss headers. 6/12 °C flow and return as standard — a wider band shrinks the pump but flattens the coil. |
| VRF and split systems | 2.5 – 150 kW | Heat-pump and heat-recovery VRF for offices, retail and converted mills where there is no room for a water circuit. Pipework pressure-tested and logged under F-Gas. |
| Air-source heat pumps | 5 – 250 kW | Low-temperature heating retrofits at 45–55 °C flow, with the emitter survey done first. We will tell you when a building is not ready for one. |
| Ventilation and MVHR | 50 – 3,000 l/s | Supply and extract systems, kitchen make-up air, and heat-recovery ventilation for tight buildings. Ductwork fabricated to DW/144, cleaned and capped before it leaves the shop. |
| Controls | — | BMS head-ends, standalone controllers and simple time-and-temperature panels. Setpoints handed over written down, in a document you can read. |
One thing we will argue with you about
The chilled-water temperature.
Raising the flow temperature from 6 °C to 10 °C looks like free efficiency and it is sometimes exactly that. But it lifts the coil surface with it, and once the surface passes the room's dew point the coil stops dehumidifying altogether. That is fine in a switchroom and it is not fine in a kitchen. The coil on our home page is the same argument, drawn.
Which of these your building wants is a survey question.
Tell us the use, the occupancy and the fabric and we will tell you which of the six is the honest answer — including when it is none of them.
